Quality, affordable, good for foreign students too

Having lived in Germany for over 10 years, I have always struggled with not having my foreign qualifications recognised in Germany. Not wanting to start from the beginning again, I was looking for a German degree programme that allowed me to gain the necessary qualification I desired in the social sector, whilst continuing to work full-time and this programme certainly fit the bill. I was able to use my foreign Bachelor along with Goethe Sprachdiplom as entry qualification and therefore there was no need for me to repeat and redo my Bachelor.

Furthermore, when searching for a programme that is compatible with full-time employment, I was concerned with how many online universities there are who charge monthly tuition and do not appear to be very reputable. TU Kaiserslautern is a reputable University in it's own right, which also happens to offer distance learning programmes and has done so for over twenty years. This level of professionalism and expertise does not go unnoticed whilst one is studying.

Of course there are deadlines and one must attend seminars in person, however I have always been able to plan my study time around my working hours and the seminars being on a weekend meant I did not have to miss many days at work.

The organisation of the programme - the online programme, administration team, the information provided for travelling to and staying in Kaiserslautern etc - is exceptional. Especially when I suffered a sudden death in the family and needed to take a semester off, the administration team were incredibly helpful and supportive.

Working in childcare, I was concerned that the course of studies would be too focused on the health sector, however this has not been the case. The programme provides one with a great overall view of the health & social sector, and there are always options to specialise between the two. I found there to be a great mix of people attending the seminars from all levels within both health and social, as well as from various states and different age groups. This was a huge advantage for broadening ones horizon and networking. Even here, the Uni helps to match and connect people from the same state during orientation so they can study and travel together.

All in all, when comparing with tuition fees from other less reputable institutions, I found this programme to be incredible value and I would highly recommend this course of study to anyone considering taking it up.
